Let’s talk about Balance and its importance in our lives.
For us busy 21st century women who have to keep all those balls up in the air at the same time, balance is crucial to our emotional and spiritual well being.
In the mean time I’d like to share what I do:
I make a To Do List every morning and make sure I have something in each of the following categories of balance:
- Physical: bike riding, swimming,
- Spiritual: meditation, readings, Rosary and Mass,
- Mental: reading, studying and financial planning for my prosperity
- Emotional: contacting my kids and friends, watching a movie, reading a great book from a favorite author
Being good at multi-tasking, I often combine these because I only received 24 hours a day just like everybody else.
Monday through Friday I bike ride to daily morning Rosary and Mass and stop at our public pool for a half-hour of swimming on my way home. I hit two birds with one stone.
While I cook I listen to spiritual uplifting talks. I could do that while I bike ride but I prefer to hear the waves and the birds and an occasional return of my “good mornings” of people on the bike path.
I make sure that there is some connection between me and my children and friends through emails, phone calls and Face Book. I especially love it when my daughters-in-law post photos of the grandchildren. Occasionally a son will.
When the list gets troublesome, I then “grade” the events I must/want to accomplish. The Triple A’s come first and down to the doubles and single A’s. The ones not accomplished, usually the B’s, get dragged to the next day, and the next, etc. Sometimes I will review my old lists and realize that there’s been a B that’s been dragged down for too many days and I take care of it right away. It wouldn’t be on my list if it weren’t important.
Is this you trying to maintain a balance in your life? And in high heels to boot?
I want to know how you maintain balance in your life and if you do share it, this will involve my sharing it with others on my blog. We all need help. It’s takes a village, one of the Seven Universal Principles. Why? Because Basta ya! Enough already!
